“Believe that you can run farther or faster. Believe that you’re young enough, old enough, strong enough, and so on to accomplish everything you want to do. Don’t let worn-out beliefs stop you from moving beyond yourself.”
-John Bingham, running speaker and writer
I didn’t run for a long time because I thought I couldn’t. I wanted to, but just didn’t think I could be a “runner”. I mean think of how ridiculous that sounds- a healthy, twenty-something girl with no physical limitations can’t be a runner?! Ha!
“People will look at me”
“I’ll get shin splints”
“I’m too tired”
“Real runners inly run marathons”
“I don’t even know how to breathe when I run”
EXCUSES, EXCUSES!
When I finally laced up my first pair of ill-fitting running shoes and headed out on my first run in March 2010, I can’t say that I immediately considered myself a “runner” or that I was instantly hooked (I was hooked after my first race). It is sometimes hard, kinda boring, and the last thing I wan to do on Earth. But it is many times a stress reliever, way to relax, and an excellent way to catch up with friends.
Want to be a runner? You already are! Just get out there and do it!

Just found your blog through Ali’s. I’m running the R2R in May too! Good luck!!
Have you ever run a half before? The most I’ve run was 10 miles back in March and since I am currently hating running, that about sums up my half training!
